CONTRIBUTE TO THE CAPITAL CAMPAIGN

Since 1906, the NAC has been housed in the historic landmarked Tilden Mansion, a pair of 1845 town houses combined/remodeled by Calvert Vaux in 1881-1884. The building is architecturally significant for its High Victorian Gothic design; historically significant for its association with Samuel J. Tilden, the New York governor and state legislator; and culturally significant for its association with the National Arts Club, organized in 1898 as a gathering place to welcome artists of all genres as well as art lovers and patrons.

Your support will help the NAC’s multi-year capital renovation and restoration plan that will upgrade major systems (HVAC and fire safety systems), preserve historic details (façade and ornamentation), modernize interior spaces (galleries, public meeting rooms), and meet 21st Century standards including ADA accessible restrooms (a rendering of the proposed ladies' restroom is pictured above) and elevator.
