Music, spoken word, and video projections come together in an intimate and interactive evening with film composer and pianist Duke Bojadziev, and clarinetist Ismail Lumanovski. In a salon-style setting, the artists create a cinematic journey that blends poetry and imagery with classical romanticism and traditional Eastern European melodies.
Born and raised in Macedonia, Duke (a.k.a. Duke B) earned a medical degree before approaching music as a career. He then moved to Boston and graduated from Berklee College of Music. Duke has worked alongside Oscar-winning film directors Jonathan Demme and Danis Tanovic, and has collaborated with a wide variety of artists, from TelepopMusik to Angela McCluskey and Cyndi Lauper.
The Macedonian/Turkish clarinetist Ismail Lumanovski grew up in the Balkans cherishing his recordings of Western classical music, jazz, hip hop and rock. Lumanovski is perhaps the first Roma (Gypsy) clarinetist to graduate from The Juilliard School, and his understanding of the orchestral repertoire is as developed as his profound passion for and skill in playing the music from his childhood.
