Flash Count Diary: Darcey Steinke, in conversation with Tara Parker-Pope

Thursday, November 14
8:00 PM

This groundbreaking feminist memoir, which Maggie Nelson (The Argonauts) called “an instant classic” is a highly personal exploration of “the change” (aka menopause) and its vital role in shaping female consciousness. Drawing from literary criticism, zoological study, and journalism, Darcey Steinke brings a fresh and critical look to the way our culture views aging women. Steinke has taught at Columbia University, Barnard and Princeton. Tara Parker-Pope is the Emmy-award-winning founder of Well, the New York Times’ consumer health site. She is the author of The Hormone Decision and For Better: The Science of a Good Marriage.

The National Arts Club is thrilled to launch our 2019-20 season with "Multiple Perspectives: Women in the Arts,” a three-month festival (September - November 2019) exploring women creators, leaders, and innovators. The festival features over 50 performances, readings, presentations, and exhibitions focused on the arts, past, present, and future. “Since its founding in 1898, women have been welcomed as full members of our Club. ‘Multiple Perspectives’ is an opportunity for the Club to build on this commitment while fulfilling our mission to promote the arts,” said Linda Zagaria, Club President.
