Pulitzer Prize Winner Tania León
[Music] The Sorel Organization was founded by legendary pianist Claudette Sorel to expand opportunities for women in music. To launch a new collaboration celebrating the accomplishments of women musicians, the National Arts Club and the Sorel Organization are thrilled to present composer/conductor Tania León, winner of the 2021 Pulitzer Prize for Music. León, founder and artistic director of Composers Now, will receive the Sorel Legacy Medallion for her significant contributions as a woman in music and her advocacy for living composers. She will discuss her work and her new biography, Tania Leon’s Stride: A Polyrhythmic Life. León will then introduce a short program of music by women composers from Composers Now.
All programs are open to the public and free with registration.
