Eighty Years Ago: Pearl Harbor’s Archaeological Legacy
[Archaeology] On the eightieth anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, Dr. James P. Delgado shares insights and revelations from decades of archaeological and historical work on the sites associated with the infamous December 7, 1941 attack on Oahu. Ranging from deep water investigations off the harbor entrance and far out to sea; dives and exploration of both the USS Arizona and USS Utah; sunken seaplanes strafed and destroyed off Kaneohe; extensive interviews with survivors from both sides, as well as detailed archival research, the archaeology of the recent past takes on greater significance as the living memory of these events is disappearing.
