FashionSpeak Fridays:
Dangerous Beauty: Death and the Maiden

Friday, January 10
7:00 PM

Join filmmaker, multimedia artist, musician, perfumer and professor Alexis Palmer Karl for an evening exploring the theme of Death and The Maiden through the lens of fashion, throughout various cultures and eras, and its great influence on creating archetypal characters of the vampire and reanimated women in the Victorian era and beyond. The romanticism of dark and finite ephemeral beauty will be examined. Alexis Palmer Karl is the founder of artisanal fragrance company, Scent By Alexis, and co-founder of House of Cherry Bomb. She is a regular lecturer at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and a professor of Art of Scent and The Cult of Fashion at Pratt Institute. Karl is presently directing a fashion-dance film with her gothic performing troupe, LEX and The Cult of Spirits.

Dangerous fashion is highly encouraged!
