Bonnet Bash 2020
  Fire and Ice

Friday, April 3
9:00 PM to Midnight

“You are the blood of the dragon. You can make a hat.”
 - George R.R. Martin, A Song of Ice and Fire

Enter a domain of the elements. Unlock the mystery behind all things headwear and participate as any elemental force inspired by earth, wind, fire, water, or space. We invite you to deconstruct and reconstruct the basis for all things, where opposites attract and combustion is encouraged. Breeze through an interactive environment designed by Sarah Sparkles, discover elementary inventions curated by the Museum of Interesting Things, blaze the dancefloor to the music of DJ Xie, enjoy ice-cold specialty cocktails, and feel the power of the void in a one-night-only installation of otherworldly headwear created by Darrell Thorne.

Prizes for the most elementastic headwear will be awarded by Darrell Thorne and celebrity milliner Heidi Lee. As a set designer and window dresser at Bergdorf Goodman, Sarah Sparkles is a regular contributor to the famous holiday windows. Costume designer and performer Darrell Thorne is a creator of sculptural head-pieces for stage and screen, outfitting dance companies and entertainers like Madonna and participants of RuPaul’s Drag Race. Designer Heidi Lee is a recipient of the Metropolitan Museum Costume Institute Accessory Design Award, and her work has been featured in the MAD Museum’s Biennial.
