Is Artificial Intelligence the Future of Art?
Thursday, May 30
6:30 PM
Panel discussion
On October 25, 2018, a major auction house offered a work of art
created by Artificial Intelligence (AI) for sale. The painting sold for
an astonishing $350,000. Did the sale reflect the draw of a singular
moment—the first time an AI painting was up for auction—or did it
reflect a pivotal turning point for the art market and art history, a
bet that AI is the future of art?
Join speakers from the art world and academia to explore questions
such as: What is creativity? What is originality? and Who or what can
make art?

• Ahmed Elgammal, Professor, Computer Science, Rutgers University and Director of the Art and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory
