Speaking of Shakespeare

Speaking of Shakespeare with F. Murray Abraham

Monday, May 13

Conversation

Although he is best known for his roles in Scarface and The Sunshine Boys and for the Academy Award he earned as Mozart's rival, Antonio Salieri, in Amadeus -- not to mention his riveting Dar Adal in television's acclaimed Homeland series -- F. Murray Abraham is also a meticulously-trained stage actor who once depicted Bottom in a Central Park presentation of A Midsummer Night's Dream.
A few years ago he played Shylock in a Theatre for a New Audience production of The Merchant of Venice that was selected for inclusion in a global festival under the auspices of the Royal Shakespeare Company. Excerpts from that riveting performance were included in Shakespeare Uncovered, and in September Mr. Abraham took part in the final season of that popular PBS series.
In 2010 Mr. Abraham received a Gielgud Award for Excellence in the Dramatic Arts during an NAC gala at which Tom Hulce, Anne Meara and Jerry Stiller, and other stars saluted him for his many contributions to the classical tradition in drama. We now look forward to welcoming him back for what promises to be a delightful conversation with John Andrews.

Free and open to the public. Seating is first come, first-served. An RSVP is not required.
