| The
Medal of Honor for Literature |
| The
Medal of Honor for Literature is given for a body of work
of literary excellence. We honor the achievement of the author
chosen annually by the Literary Committee Members. The recipient
can be a novelist, poet, playwright, memoirist, or biographer.

| The
Carole Klein Memorial Lecture |
| |
The
Committee honors the memory of our much loved former co-chair,
the brilliant author Carole Klein, by presenting an
annual lecture in her honor. Carole died tragically when she
was struck by a car in July of 2001. The first speaker, Carol's
dear friend, biographer Blanche Wiesen Cook (Eleanor
Roosevelt), was be our first speaker. Her topic was, "Carole
Klein and Eleanor Roosevelt: Women, Friendship and Power."
