Dream of Venice Architecture: Book Presentation and Signing

Tuesday, May 16
8:00 PM

You are invited to an extraordinary encounter with the magical city of Venice. From the original muddy wilderness of the fifth century to a beguiling built environment 1,500 years later, Venice remains a provocative paradox of visceral and visual inspiration.
The presentation will explore the remarkable architectural elements that make Venice unique in the world. The participants are contributors to Dream of Venice Architecture, in which they reflect on how Venice has influenced their lives and work.
Louise Braverman, FAIA, is an award-winning New York based architect who has been invited to exhibit at the Venice Architecture Biennale in 2012, 2014, and 2016. Working locally and globally, her firm has recently designed art museums in Boticas, Portugal and Riverdale, New York.
Cynthia Davidson was the co-curator of the USA Pavilion for the 2016 Venice Architecture Biennale. She is a writer and editor of the architectural journal Log and the Writing Architecture series published by MIT press.
James Biber, FAIA, designed the USA Pavilion at Expo Milan in 2015. His firm has designed a wide range of projects from private residences and museums to restaurants and schools.
Max Levy, FAIA, is a Dallas based architect, where he seeks to bring sun, wind, rain, and sky into play architecturally.
JoAnn Locktov is the founder of Bella Figura Publications, an independent imprint, publishing a series of photography books on Venice as a contemporary living city.
