Bergman’s Wild Strawberries

Monday, October 3
7:30 PM

Our Dream Factory Film Festival continues with Bergman’s Wild Strawberries. Traveling to accept an honorary degree, Professor Isak Borg—masterfully played by veteran director Victor Sjöström—is forced to face his past, come to terms with his faults, and make peace with the inevitability of his approaching death. Through flashbacks and fantasies, dreams and nightmares, Wild Strawberries dramatizes one man’s remarkable voyage of self-discovery. This richly humane masterpiece, full of iconic imagery, is a treasure from the golden age of art-house cinema and one of the films that catapulted Ingmar Bergman to international acclaim.
Bernard Welt, author of Mythomania: Fantasies, Fables, and Sheer Lies in Contemporary American Popular Art, discusses the book with Phil King and Kelly Bulkeley, co-author of Dreaming in the Classroom, the first major academic survey of the study and use of dreams and dreaming in contemporary education.

Prior to the screening, join us for a prix-fixe  dinner at 6:00 PM at the “Film Table.”
Be sure to reserve with the dining room at (212) 477-2389 or [email protected]

No RSVP required. This event is free and open to the public. Seating is assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis.
