A Conversation on Sleep No More and Immersive Experiences

Wednesday, May 25
8:00 PM

Cesar Hawas visits the NAC for a discussion on immersive entertainment and the movement behind the rise of the popular art form. Cesar is the special envoy of The McKittrick Hotel, home to the immersive spectacle Sleep No More, and creative producer of Le Bal: A Drag Extravaganza. Sleep No More tells the story of Shakespeare’s Macbeth through a film noir lens. The experience spans 100,000 square feet of space and encourages guests to explore and engage with the over 100 densely detailed rooms. The McKittrick Hotel, one of New York’s most curious nightlife destinations.
Le Bal, produced at The Theatre at Ace Hotel in downtown Los Angeles, pays homage to the art form of drag and variety entertainment while embracing and celebrating the evolution of queer culture.
The conversation will address the dynamics between theatre-makers, their audiences and the subversion of traditional storytelling in live experiences.
