Tribute to John J. Pershing, General of the Armies of the United States

In commemoration of the centennial anniversary of the entrance of U.S. forces into World War I, The National Arts Club's Le Cocktail Français is delighted to honor the memory of John J. Pershing, General of the Armies, Commander of the American Expeditionary Force on the Western Front.
   Thierry Kranzer, United Nations International Civil Servant and President of L’Union Alsacienne, the oldest French club in New York founded in 1871, will pay tribute to the heroic contributions of General Pershing during World War I. After departing from Governors Island in New York harbor under top secrecy in May 1917, Pershing arrived in France in June 1917. In a show of American presence, part of the 16th Infantry Regiment marched through Paris shortly after his arrival.
