An Evening of Romantic Music for Cello and Piano
Friday, February 17
In their first New York appearance since being awarded First Prize at the prestigious Boulder International Chamber Music Competition, the vibrant young duo of Julian Schwarz, cello, and Marika Bournaki, piano, will perform masterpieces by Schubert, Chopin, Brahms and Debussy.
The performers met as students at the Aspen Music Festival in 2006, and subsequently attended the Juilliard School. Recent concert appearances include the Eastern Music Festival, Brooklyn’s popular Bargemusic series, the Salzburg Mozarteum, Rosenegg Castle in Austria, and the Lunenburg Academy in Nova Scotia. In 2017 they will embark on a 15-concert tour through China. They have been featured in radio broadcasts, and in recordings on the Naxos label. In addition to their chamber music collaboration, Schwarz and Bournaki each have successful solo careers in the United States and abroad.
Please join us for an intimate evening of chamber music in the Grand Gallery.
