The Future of Ballet: A Conversation with Angel Corella and Anna Kisselgoff

Angel Corella and Anna Kisselgoff will discuss the revitalization of ballet and Mr. Corella’s specific goals as the newly appointed Artistic Director of Pennsylvania Ballet.
   Mr. Corella, a famed dancer and now an artistic director, and Ms. Kisselgoff, equally famous as a dance critic and champion of the art form, are uniquely qualified on the subject of ballet and its future. He is regarded as one of the finest dancers of his generation and a national treasure in his native Spain. His talent, technique, and passion have brought him wide acclaim around the world. He joined American Ballet Theatre in 1995 and was quickly promoted to principal dancer. Mr. Corella has appeared as a guest artist with the Royal Ballet in London, the Kirov Ballet in Russia, and New York City Ballet.  He has danced for Queen Elizabeth II, Queen Sophia of Spain, and United States Presidents Bill Clinton, George Bush, and Barack Obama.
   Anna Kisselgoff is a dance critic and cultural news reporter for The New York Times. She began at the Times as a dance critic and cultural news reporter in 1968, becoming its chief dance critic in 1977, a role she held until 2005. Ms. Kisselgoff has taught ballet history at Yale University and a Contemporary Choreographers course at Barnard College. She also lectured at Hollins University from 2006 to 2008. Kisselgoff has also worked as a consultant, and wrote the forward for Bronislav Nijinska: Early Memoirs.
