FashionSpeak Fridays:
Alan Flusser Talks Tweed

Friday, January 11
7:00 PM

Moderated discussion and style presentation

Break out your Big Cloth and join celebrated menswear designer and author Alan Flusser for a conversation about tweed, from its rough and ready Scottish origins to its emergence as royal sportswear in the late 19th century, its popular heyday in the interwar years, and the latest weaving technologies responsible for making tweed more comfortable for the modern market.
Alan Flusser is a Coty Award-winning fashion designer and the leading authority on the subject of classic male dress. He is the owner of Alan Flusser Custom and the author of four bestselling books, including his magnum opus Dressing the Man: Mastering the Art of Permanent Fashion. He is also responsible for the defining look of the go-go 80s with his iconic costuming of actor Michael Douglas as Gordon Gekko in 1987’s Wall Street. Musical accompaniment will be provided by Michael Arenella and his Dreamland Orchestra.

Tweed ensembles are encouraged! Books will be available for purchase.
