Managing Change in NYC Landmarks:
Restoration, Rehabilitation & New Design

Monday, January 7
8:00 PM

Lecture and visual presentation

How do buildings change over time? What should be saved? What should be eliminated? How are decisions made incorporating both?
In his presentation, Ward Dennis of HQ Preservation will discuss three projects: the restoration and rehabilitation of Temple Court Building as the Beekman Hotel; 90 West Street; and the Brooklyn Museum.
Dennis is a partner at Higgins Quasebarth & Partners, specializing in the restoration, rehabilitation and adaptive use of historic properties. Ward’s work combines his training and background in materials conservation, urban history and land-use planning. Additional projects include the rehabilitation of two former ship-building facilities at the Brooklyn Navy Yard; and 36 Old Law Tenements at the A. Philip Randolph Houses in Harlem for public and affordable housing. Dennis received a BA in Geography from Columbia College and an MS in Historic Preservation from Columbia University.  He is a co-author of The Maintenance and Repair of Architectural Sandstone.
