Tutorial and conversation, with live models

Prepare to time travel to the court of Versailles and Georgian Britain, with fashion historians and designers Lauren Stowell and Abby Cox.
Lauren Stowell is the founder and CEO of American Duchess Inc. and Royal Vintage Shoes LLC and a footwear historian. Abby Cox is a historian of decorative arts and mantua maker. Their company American Duchess Inc. has been providing historically accurate ladies shoes and accessories featured in television and theatrical productions all over the world, including ABC’s Once Upon a Time, Starz’s Outlander and American Gods, Broadway’s Hamilton: An American Musical, and Cinderella. Their shoes have also been used by the New York Metropolitan Opera, and have walked the red carpet at the Academy Awards.
With their book The American Duchess Guide to 18th Century Dressmaking, Lauren and Abby endeavor to make historical dressmaking techniques accessible to create period gowns in every sewing room.

18th century fashion is highly encouraged.
Books will be available for purchase.

A reservation is recommended. RSVP to RSVPFashion@thenationalartsclub.org
