Roundtable
Speaking of Shakespeare With Stephen Burdman About New York Classical Theatre Monday, January 29 8:00 PM Conversation One of our metropolitan area's best-kept secrets is a small but highly respected company that presents masterpieces free of charge. It's known as the New York Classical Theatre, and we hope you'll join us for a conversation in which Stephen Burdman, its Founder and Artistic Director, explores his ensemble's special qualities. A Californian with a degree in computer science, Mr. Burdman brings a uniquely "panoramic" approach to outdoor presentations that take place in such welcoming locations as Central Park, the Battery, and Brooklyn Bridge Park. Mr. Burdman and his actors charm audiences with innovative approaches not only to Shakespearean plays but to favorites like A Christmas Carol and The Seagull. Mr. Burdman has served on review panels at both the National Endowment for the Arts and the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs. He has chaired the Shakespeare Theatre Association's prestigious Artistic Committee, and has been an active member of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society. All events are free and open to the public.
