Roundtable
Screening of The Ivory Game: A Netflix Original Feature Documentary Thursday, December 14 7:00 - 10:00 PM For their film The Ivory Game the creators went underground for 16 months, moving across the continents of Africa, Asia, and Europe infiltrating and documenting the deep-rooted corruption at the heart of this global trafficking crisis. The pursuit of ivory, fueled by the rising Chinese middle class's taste for “luxury”, is bringing the African elephant to near extinction. The documentary follows a band of remarkable heroes fighting to bring down poachers, traffickers, and corrupt government officials while saving elephants. This torch-bearing film inspires both outrage and hope. After the screening, award-winning director Richard Ladkani and Academy award-nominated director Kief Davidson will discuss their experiences in making the film, The Ivory Game, winner of the 2017 Prince William TUSK Game Changer Award. They will lead a Q & A on how art can influence life, as their film was the major impetus behind China’s banning of the ivory trade by the end of 2017. The screening will be followed by a discussion and Q&A. Credit for photo: Courtesy of Netflix An RSVP is highly recommended for this event. Please complete the RSVP form below. Loading...
