Collaging the Internet: Jeanette Hayes

Wednesday, November 8
8:00 PM

Jeanette Hayes is a painter and multimedia artist for the new millennium. Her work addresses the traditional preservation of non-traditional technological imagery through painting, video, photoshop and internet collages. Hayes' interests include cultural phenomena and the confrontation of conventionality and subject matter.
In this rare artist talk, Hayes will describe what it is like to be a career artist in the age of Instagram; navigating trolls, memes, reality, fantasy, high art, pop culture and the politics of appropriation.
Hayes has shown with Half Gallery, the Hole, Bleecker Street Arts Club, M&B Gallery, Motelsalieri, with solo shows at Castor gallery and ROMEO. She has collaborated with Proenza Schouler, CHANEL, Alexander Wang, Opening Ceremony and BlackBerry. She has been published in numerous magazines. ID Magazine included Hayes on their 30 under 30 list and The New York Times featured her in their first "Up Next" column.

Conversation with Charlotte Kent and Q&A to follow.

An RSVP is recommended, but not required, for all events that are open to the public.
