Illustrated lecture and discussion

We are pleased to present an illustrated lecture and discussion exploring the work of Amadeo Modigliani with renowned experts Dr. Kenneth Wayne and Dr. Mason Klein.
Kenneth Wayne has written and lectured extensively on Modigliani and will mount a Modigliani exhibit at the Barnes Foundation in 2020. He will discuss Modigliani’s popularity and the exciting developments currently underway in Europe and the United States to combat the pernicious problem of Modigliani fakes.
Mason Klein is a critic, art historian, and Senior Curator at the Jewish Museum, where he has organized the Museum’s  exhibitions, Modigliani: Beyond the Myth and Modigliani Unmasked. Dr. Klein will examine how Modigliani's preoccupation with his identity as an Italian Sephardic Jew in turn-of-the-century Paris spurred the artist to reconcile the modern portrait, arguing that Modigliani ultimately came to think of identity as beyond national or cultural borders.
