Musical Performance

Opera Lafayette is an American period instrument ensemble focused on the French 18th-century opera repertoire and its precursors, influences, and artistic legacy. Opera Lafayette inspires a love of this repertoire by presenting rediscovered masterpieces and creating a recorded legacy of its work.
Artistic Director Ryan Brown will be joined by tenor Patrick Kilbride, harpsichordist Andrew Appel and cellist Loretta O’Sullivan in presenting a musical preview and discussion of Opera Lafayette’s upcoming season in New York.  Featured will be excerpts from Visitors to Versailles, a program to be presented at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in conjunction with their exhibition of the same name, as well as arias and instrumental pieces by Monteverdi, Scarlatti, and Geminiani’s La Forêt Enchantée, a work which premiered in Paris in 1754, and which Opera Lafayette will revive in its original version as a ballet pantomime.

MEMBERS ONLY: For a prix-fixe dinner at the “French Table," call (212) 477-2389 or email [email protected].
