Morton Kaish - Spring Rising

After a successful run at The Butler Institute of American Art, The National Arts Club is pleased to be selected as the New York venue for Morton Kaish - Spring Rising.  
   Morton Kaish is an American artist  whose work can be found in major museums including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Smithsonian American Art Museum and the British Museum. Critics have noted Kaish’s powerful ability  to combine traditional and experimental painting techniques with contemporary insights. Spring Rising presents 30 years of Kaish’s floral and landscape works. His relish for blazing color, vigorous brush work and intricate handling produces paintings that are romantic but never sentimental. Also featured are a series of accomplished etchings and monotypes.  
   Morton Kaish is Professor Emeritus in the School of Art and Design at FIT/SUNY as well as well as serving on the faculties of The New School, Boston University, The Parsons School of Design and The School of Visual Arts.

Jose Luis Bustamante - The Power of the South Wind - Across Borders

October 2 - November 25

The acclaimed Mexican artist, Jose Luis Bustamante, returns to The National Arts Club with an exhibition of new work inspired by his observation of the powerful migration of the south wind. Studying color and movement, Bustamante has created a body of work that captures the warm yet powerful elements of the physical world and emotional spaces.  
   Installing unique groupings of diptych, triptych and polyptych, the artist creates an environment of continuous flow and creative freedom. A master colorist, Bustamante’s power of communication is immediate and arresting and allows him to effortlessly combine his pictorial, cultural and political visions and views.

Through The Lens of Rose Hartman

For 40 years, photographer Rose Hartman has documented nightlife in some of the most legendary settings in New York. An artist who manages to create the illusion of intimacy in the most public circumstances, Hartman, in her own words, “captures souls”. A chronicler of decades of fashion as well as popular culture, her arresting pictures have been published in Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, and Vanity Fair. She is the subject of the recent documentary film “The Incomparable Rose Hartman.” 
   A collaboration between the Fashion and Fine Arts Committees, Through The Lens, will feature some of Hartman’s most iconic images including Mick Jagger, Bianca Jagger and Andy Warhol.
