Celebrating the Onassis Cultural Center New York

Tuesday, June 20
7:30 PM

The Onassis Cultural Center New York has produced a number of outstanding exhibitions with objects loaned from some of the major art institutions around the world, most recently “A World of Emotions: Ancient Greece 700 BC – 200 AD”, curated by Prof. Angelos Chaniotis, from the Institute of Advanced Studies at Princeton, Prof. Ioannis Mylonopoulos, from Columbia University, and Prof. Nikolaos Kaltsas, from the National Archaeological Museum in Athens. The exhibition will close on June 24.
Dr. Roberta Casagrande-Kim, Assistant Manager of Exhibitions and Publications of the Foundation since June 2015, will provide an overview of “A World of Emotions” and of the 2016 exhibition “Gods and Mortals at Olympus: Ancient Dion, city of Zeus”, curated by Prof. Dimitris Pandermalis, President of the Acropolis Museums, highlighting some of the cultural events that accompanied both shows. Dr. Casagrande-Kim holds and MA and a PhD in Roman Art and Archaeology from Columbia University.  She has worked extensively in archaeological excavations in Italy, Israel, and Turkey, and she has served as the Assistant Field Director at the Amheida excavations in Egypt since 2010. We salute the existence of the Onassis Cultural Center New York as a cultural treasure.
