Mamie and Yvonne. Gus and Emily.
written and starring Rebecca Schull

After a season of drama, comedy, cabaret, and a musical, we present one-acts written and starring Rebecca Schull - best known for her role as Fay Cochran in the NBC sitcom Wings.
Ms. Schull has observed that as the audience for theater gets older and older, today's plays seem to be designed for an audience who are younger and younger.  Here are two one-acts - in vastly different modes - with engaging and unconventional older women at center stage.
In Mamie and Yvonne, we find two actresses of a certain age - sophisticated best friends and sometime competitors - shooting a movie in Iowa.  Enter Chris, a younger actor disinclined to let age stand in the way of desire.
In Gus and Emily, a once famous poet is now a recluse at her New England farm.  When Gus, the young itinerant worker appears, he manages to bring Emily out of her shell and a deep and unconventional connection develops between the two.  But, the world intervenes in the person of Gus’s father.
Rebecca Schull has written Journey into the Whirlwind, Imagining Anna Akhmatova, and What about
Miami.
