The NAC Celebrates IS Day (International Sculpture Day)
Sculptors on Sculpture

Monday, April 24
8:00 PM

International Sculpture Day is a worldwide celebration event held on April 24, 2017 to further the International Sculpture Center’s (ISC) mission of advancing the creation and understanding of sculpture and its unique, vital contribution to society. It is a day to create a unified community championing sculpture. Hundreds of artist's organizations and institutions in over 20 countries will celebrate the day with open studios, unveiling public sculptures, lectures, sculpture scavenger hunts, pop-up exhibitions, demonstrations, plus much more to bring awareness to this 3-dimensional art form. The National Arts Club will join in the festivities by sponsoring an event where sculptors Marcia Raff, Babette Bloch and Marc Mellon will dialog on three very different approaches and styles to making sculptures.

Marcia Raff works in a range of metals creating sculptures that are inspired from books that she has read and feels passionate about. She particularly enjoys creating monumental site-specific public art. Currently she has nineteen sculptures exhibited globally.

Babette Bloch is a pioneer in laser cut stainless steel sculpture. She divides her time between site–specific, one-of-a-kind commissioned public sculptures and artworks in limited editions. Her sculptures are collected internationally.

Marc Mellon is a representational sculptor in bronze, known for his dance and sports bronzes, portrait busts, commemorative statues, and medallic art. His work is in numerous collections worldwide, including the National Portrait Gallery, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, and the British Museum.
