Speaking of Shakespeare
With Shane Ann Younts
Of NYU's Tisch School of the Arts

Wednesday, February 22
8:00 PM

What are the keys to preparing for a successful career in acting? In October we enjoyed an engaging dialogue on that question with director Louis Scheeder, who oversees the Classic Studio at NYU's prestigious Tisch School of the Arts. We now look forward to another perspective on the topic with Mr. Scheeder's colleague and co-author, Shane Ann Younts. Mr. Scheeder and Ms. Younts compiled All the Words on Stage: A Complete Pronunciation Dictionary for the Plays of William Shakespeare, a book-length reference guide that has become so indispensable to drama professionals around the globe that it's now available as an app for mobile devices.
Shane Ann Younts is an Associate Arts Professor in NYU's Graduate Acting Program. A protégé of Robert Neff Williams, who anchored the Juilliard Drama School's voice and speech training for more than two decades, Ms. Younts has also studied with such leaders in the field as Cicely Berry of the Royal Shakespeare Company. Ms. Yount's own students include a number of prominent actors, among them Billy Crudup, Sterling K. Brown, Debra Messing, and Corey Stoll. She'll talk about the methods she employs, and offer valuable perspectives on how to approach both classical and modern dramatists, during a wide-ranging conversation with the audience and with John Andrews of the Shakespeare Guild.

An RSVP is required for this event.
